On or after Monday, February 24, 2025, contractors will begin work on drainage improvements and repaving of Washington Boulevard. This is Phase 2A of DPW project SD-22-101D. The project will require a partial closure of Washington Boulevard from 30th Street to 34th Street, which will temporarily prohibit on-street parking in this area. Please allow until May 1, 2025 for access to on-street parking to be restored.

The plan is to remove the Northbound (NB) lane first while Southbound (SB) lane remains open to traffic. Then the SB lane will be removed and the NB lane will be open to traffic. Due to the nature of utilities, they have to break ground first and then build the road back up. The contractor will do their best to maintain access to those driveways in which the resident has no access from the alley. However, for houses which do have alley access the driveway will not have continual access.

The reoccurring issues and failing condition of the road is due to drainage. This project will improve the drainage and subgrade in addition to the asphalt it so desperately needs. Due to the scope of the project, the inconvenience will help the contractor complete the work much faster. It is our understanding that this project timeline includes all drainage improvements, repaving, and installation of the planned bicycle lane.
