The HMPNA Board is in the planning stages with IMPD to create a formal Neighborhood Watch. Since there are participation requirements, the Board is asking each household to indicate interest in participating in the crime watch program. A brief visit to https://www.in.gov/library/2409.htm can shed light on the reasons for and the benefits of a vibrant neighborhood crime watch

The most obvious reason to develop a neighborhood watch is to prevent crime, but there are also other benefits of a neighborhood watch such as building comradery and connectedness among neighbors and bringing to light other issues or topics that may benefit the neighborhood as a whole.

As the HMPNA board works to develop the neighborhood watch program, they are imploring neighbors to fill out a Neighborhood Watch Sign-Up form to indicate interest. Block captains are also needed, so be sure to choose “Yes” for the question indicating willingness in being a block captain.
