If you have not been by the Pocket Park lately, you are encouraged to see the work already completed. However, there is still work to be done if the park is going to open on schedule. Our partner, KIB, Inc., has been instrumental in our park development and below is a recap of where we stand to date.

KIB’s Current Commitments:

  • Remove chain link fence and install fence on eastern edge of park
  • Build and plant beds with native plants
  • Build and install an amphitheater
  • Fill and sod the dip
  • Assist with picking up boulders and stone and bringing it to the space
  • Anything else will be subject to KIB’s capacity and budget.

KIB cannot commit to installing the fence on the remainder of the property, but they do have funding to assist with the concrete material for the pathways.   Installation of flat rock around the amphitheater depends upon the outcome of KIB’s budget.  And HMP will need to work with the city regarding permits as the construction of the shelter impacts the two plant beds directly adjacent to the shelter.

It will be important to have everything planted this year as KIB’s capacity will be more limited next year to assist with planting projects.
