Since 1993, Lee Smith has made HMP her home, where she and her husband, Mark Webb, have raised their two sons. A passionate member of the community, Lee has played an integral role in the neighborhood’s development, serving as Secretary of the HMPNA Board in the late 1990s and taking on leadership positions in several initiatives. She has chaired four neighborhood tours and led beautification projects and Centennial celebrations.

Lee is particularly focused on promoting diversity in neighborhood engagement, advocating for inclusive participation in leadership roles. She believes that every resident, homeowners and renters, longtime locals and newcomers, young and elderly, should feel valued and respected. Her vision for Historic Meridian Park is as a vibrant, multicultural community where differences are celebrated and connections are fostered.

With a dynamic 40-year career that includes roles as a flight attendant, attorney, public defender, legislative official, nonprofit executive, and professional fundraiser, Lee brings a wealth of experience to her community efforts. She has been actively involved on the boards of several nonprofit organizations and has chaired an array of events, from grassroots initiatives to high-profile gatherings.

A strong proponent of historic preservation, Lee has a genuine affection for both the neighborhood and its residents. She is dedicated to making sure that HMP remains a welcoming, diverse, and engaged community. You might spot her at home, where colorful lanterns brighten her front porch.
