Families that rely on schools to provide nutritious meals suddenly find themselves struggling to feed their families. It is a sad reality that so many children must rely on the schools to supplement their meals. But it is a reality that is not lost on everyone.
Gleaners Food Bank and Indianapolis Public Schools have partnered to provide IPS families with food. Meals will be delivered to 25 different locations throughout the city. Each family will be given one 17-pound box of food and distribution will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 PM on Mondays and Fridays. The meal kits will include a variety of non-perishable meal-making items to supplement students’ nutrition.
HMP residents in need can go to Shortridge High School on Mondays from 4:00 to 6:00 PM to receive their meal distributions. For more information and other locations, please go to https://myips.org/blog/district/ips-and-gleaners-join-forces-to-feed-students-families/.
