It was a beautiful day in the neighborhood for cookin’ up some fun at this year’s Fall Festival – Chili Cook-off and Cornbread Competition on September 18. Special thanks to Lee Smith and Mark Webb for hosting the event and to Lee and Jean Richcreek for co-chairing this neighborhood tradition now in its eighth year.
Awesome musical entertainment was provided by neighbor Mark Herner. Hats off to our fab grillmaster Mat Haughey and thanks for not catching the house or the yard on fire! Thanks to Doressa from the MFCDC for being our “objective” chili and cornbread check-in person and to our trio of judges Charles and Viola Mitchell, and Dr. Charles Webb.
Winners of the Chili cook-off and cornbread competition are as follows:
Chili Cookoff
1. Mark Herner
2. Lorraine Vavul
3. (Five-way tie) Doug Day, Lee Smith, Gretchen Turner, Leanna Walsh, Dave Wheeler
Cornbread Competition
