Greetings HMP Community,
Iibada Dance Company is excited to have you partner with us on the Art and Seek Project. Below is the information for the project and how you can get involved.
Music Video Synopsis
Community member visits the community fortune teller in distress about the state of our country and all of the civil unrest. The community member asks the fortune teller, “What is the future of our community?” The fortune-teller looks at the community member and pulls out his/her tarot cards. She shuffles and turns over a card that has the Umoja symbol which stands for ” To strive for and maintain unity in the family, community, and race.” The community member is relieved and daydreams on how that would look like in the future which starts the music video. Dancers will be dancing to “Made For Now” by Janet Jackson.
Video Clips From the Community
Our Dancers have put together an instructional video for the community to learn the Unity Dance. The clip is below. We are asking community members to learn the dance and submit their clip using the Google drive link below to upload to the Google folder. Within this clip, all participating community members will learn 8 counts of movement that will pass the Umoja symbol throughout the community via video. The recording example is below as well. If anyone has any problems uploading the video clip, simply email the clip to rosmith@iibadadance.org.

Community Group Dance
Iibada Dance Company will be filming the community and company group unity dance on July 25, 2020 at 11:00 AM at the northeast corner of Meridian and 32nd Streets (southern end of Trinity/St. Richard’s Episcopal School property). This is the same dance you learned in the video tutorial above. We will be filming everyone doing it together as a group. Previous dance experience is not required. We will be done no later than 12:30 PM. We will be getting both aerial and group shots to complete the video shoot. We will be practicing social distancing, however, we would need to get a headcount of who would be attending. For those community members who plan to attend, please register by using the rsvp link below.
The more we have, the more impactful it will be.
We are so excited to work with the HMP community, please reach out if you have any additional questions.
