Through many challenges, the HMPNA Board sought several initiatives including:

  • Seeking nonprofit status was met. HMPNA received its nonprofit status in 2021. This means that donations to the pocket park maintenance fund and to the association are now tax deductible. A huge thank you John Carmer and Brent Lehker for all their help and persistence in achieving this milestone. Additionally, the board can now apply for small grants for neighborhood improvements and cultural experiences.
  • Alley lighting and other safety measures goals have not yet been met.
  • Pocket Park goals were met and will continue. Anyone interested in helping keep the park maintained should contact a board member for more details. Give as little or as much as desired. Pocket Park taxes and insurance have been paid (annual insurance of $889.00 and annual taxes of $720.00). If you have not made a tax-deductible pocket park donation, you can make your donations via PayPal on the website https://www.historicmeridianpark.org/ or contact any board member for information.
  • Social events goals were met. Through fun and creative use of outdoor spaces, HMP continued its tradition of social events.
  • Business directory implementation was partially met. The submission form for the directory is available on the website at Contact Us > Business Directory Submission. Consider completing the simple form with your business name, contact, and description of services. Submitted businesses will be listed at In the Vicinity > Local Businesses. This directory is meant for neighbors to patronize our neighbor’s businesses when possible.
