In great numbers and in difficult times, HMP residents took to the streets in a Neighborhood Justice + Solidarity Walk. Neighbors organized this opportunity to show solidarity with each other, especially our African American neighbors, children, and grandchildren. Believing that change happens in small spaces, the walk was an opportunity to meet neighbors that may have been previously greeted with a passing wave. It was an opportunity to get to know the names of neighbors and their family members. It was an opportunity to visibly declare solidarity and pledge to do what is necessary to ensure HMP is a safe community for all neighbors. It was an opportunity to show that black lives matter to us as people who have chosen this neighborhood.

Many neighbors volunteered to pull this event together in less than a week, from those who cosigned the letter of solidarity, those who distributed the letter to all the homes in the neighborhood, and to those who participated in the walk.
