Recently, HMP had a series of door-to-door sales people trying to sell security systems and Internet services. It seems that summer is the time that scammers are looking to make their move. Safety experts agree that when confronted by aggressive sales people, there are several things you should do:
- Don’t Make Snap Decisions: If pressed to make a snap decision on the spot, the answer should always be “no”.
- Research First, Then Hire: Check to see if the company or individual is properly licensed and insured. Ask for a call back number or a business card.
- Check References: If they have been in business long enough, they should have references.
- Trust Your Gut: If something seems off, then take a step back and assess the situation further before making any decisions.
- If you haven’t already, put up a NO SOLICITING sign near your front door.
