Half Marathon Runs Through
Heart of Historic Meridian Park
on Saturday, November 1st between 8:45-10:00 AM

Residents are encouraged to cheer, chalk streets, make signs, and/or play music to motivate runners and walkers. Also please pick up any candy wrappers and trash left by Halloween trick-or-treaters from the night before.

IF YOU PLAN ON LEAVING THE NEIGHBORHOOD THAT MORNING, PLEASE PLAN FOR SLIGHT DELAYS entering and/or exiting the neighborhood. Meridian Street will be periodically blocked from 9:00 AM until around 1:30 PM. Visit http://www.monumentalmarathon.com/ for a full course map.

The “Monumental Marathon” half marathon course (13.1 miles) takes runners from Downtown up Delaware to 30th. West on 30th behind the Esplanade to Pennsylvania. North on Penn to 32nd. East on 32nd to Washington Blvd and up Washington Blvd to 38th Street. The course then goes onto Meridian St and back Downtown. The lead runners may pass by HMP on Meridian St between 8:55 to 9:10 AM—and all half marathon runners/walkers will have passed by around 10:30 AM. Participants will hit mile 7 when they enter the neighborhood and will be on mile 9 when they run by us again on Meridian Street.

There is also a full marathon component (26.2 miles). The marathon turns east at Delaware and Fall Creek and runs up into Broad Ripple before coming back down Meridian Street… so it will NOT run through HMP. Runners/walkers will be on mile 22 when they pass by HMP on Meridian (for the marathon, lead runners will pass by HMP on Meridian no earlier than 9:50 AM and all marathon runners should have passed by before 1:30 PM).

So far 2,400 participants representing 34 states and 4 countries have signed up for either the half or full marathon. Proceeds benefit IPS, IPS Education Foundation, and Mind Trust College Summit.

This event is a great opportunity for HMPNA to shine!
Please join in the fun and be patient if you need to travel outside the neighborhood that morning.
