HMP residents at last year’s To Market To Market Ball included Lorraine Phillips Vavul, Doug Day, Jean Richcreek, Steve Towns, Lamar Richcreek and Jeanette Holloway Towns.
The evening of Saturday, September 20, the Indianapolis City Market will host its annual “To Market To Market” Ball. Bill Conner, former HMP neighbor and chair of the City Market Foundation, has issued a challenge to HMP neighbors to assemble at least one table at the upcoming event.
The To Market To Market Ball returned last year to the historic downtown facility after two decades of absence. Once a “must do” on the city’s social calendar from 1969-83, the fundraiser will feature a night of food and entertainment on the grounds of the Market, located at Market and Delaware Streets.
Cost to attend the event is $150 per person. A table of 10 runs $1,500. To purchase tickets, please contact Mike Halstead at 684-1431 (mikeh@halstead-architects.com) or Tina Mahern at 313-4046 (tina@mahernevents.com). Be sure to mention you’d like to sit at the HMP neighborhood table when you sign up.
Opportunities such as this one presented by the City Market add immeasurably to the quality of life of living in a downtown neighborhood. “The City Market has just finished a multimillion dollar interior renovation,” noted HMP board member Lorraine Phillips Vavul. “The Market provides a great alternative to going out to the suburbs for fresh food and products. There’s a huge variety of vendors for lunch or an early dinner.”
The market is open 6am-6pm Monday-Friday and 10am-4pm on Saturday. HMP hopes neighbors will show their support for this venue and patronize its fresh food stands and culinary destinations, its Wednesday lunchtime Farmers Market (May through October) and/or this fundraising event.
