On October 1, 2017, Historic Meridian Park celebrated its 15th Annual Fall Festival at the HMP Pocket Park. Neighbors enjoyed a fantastic fall day and saw the crowning of new chili and cornbread champions based on three independent judges. As usual, Mark Herner played great music during the three hour event.
Chili Cookoff winners were:
- Jean Richcreek (1st)
- Mary & Dave Sockrider (2nd)
- Spencer Valentine (3rd)
- Hope Hampton & Lorraine Vavul (tied for 4th)
- Violeta Rodrigues (5th)
Cornbread Competition winners were:
- Lee Smith (1st)
- Emily McClelland (2nd)
- Nicole Brock (3rd)
- Chris Roberson (4th)
- Nancy Hiestand (5th)
Thank you to our judges Nicole and Sara from the Children’s Museum Guild, and Rachel, a barre instructor at Meridian Park Studios.
“We loved seeing so many new neighbors participate in the chili and cornbread competitions. I suspect next year the coveted golden ladle and golden forks we will going to new homes,” said neighbor Lorraine Vavul, who was the contest’s first winner back in 2003.
