Planning has begun on Historic Meridian Park’s (HMP’s) 2015 Home and Garden Tour. The neighborhood’s goal is to feature approximately six to eight homes and three gardens. In addition, organizers anticipate offering a free exhibition of vintage cars that participants can enjoy while strolling between home and gardens. The HMP Home Tour Chair, Kara Haughey, aptly noted that the addition of vintage cars as part of the tour is a natural fit since the automobile was instrumental in the development of HMP. Haughey also noted that the welcoming porches that were a popular addition to the 2010 HMP Home Tour will be included in 2015 Home Tour. Once the homes and gardens selections are finalized, the committee will direct its focus to sales and marketing efforts and the development of the publicity plan built around homes.
HMP is aiming to have the home tour the last weekend of May 2015. One of the many exciting features of the homes the tour will promote is the accessibility of the homes and that even the renovation novice can live here. To the extent possible, renovation before and after photos will be available for tour attendees to see the transformations of the home in which they are touring. The tour will highlight renovations that have preserved homes’ Craftsman influence and historical significance and renovations that have modernized spatial and design concepts. The Home Tour Committee is in the early planning stages, but is excited to share its initial thoughts.
