HMP celebrated its annual Cajun brunch and New Neighbor Reception on Sunday, May 4, 2014. As usual, Drs. Steve Towns and Jeannette Holloway hosted another successful event. The weather could not have been more cooperative as many neighbors came out to hear Mark Herner play music; meet and welcome our new neighbors, the Heins and Bosmans; and enjoy good food.

This year’s event had a celebrity twist. Food Network Star contestant Loreal Gavin helped prepare the food. As mentioned in her Food Network bio, Loreal is a motorcycle-riding, guitar-playing woman who loves tattoos. She has been trained in culinary arts, baking, and pastry. She was raised by her grandmother who taught her to cook from her soul.

This event is one of the most successful social events in the neighborhood. It would not be possible without the generosity of hosts Drs. Steve Towns and Jeannette Holloway, social chair Wade Johnson, and all the volunteers who set up and tore down the event.
