You may have read in previous issues of the Urban Times that HMP has been awarded a beautification grant to plant trees along Washington Boulevard. We are happy to report that 25 homes will be participating. Many homes have requested more than one tree! That means that HMP could potentially receive up to 40 new trees between 30th street and 34th street along Washington Boulevard. To be successful, we need one volunteer per tree. So mark your calendars for November 10th from 8:30 AM – Noon. We will plant rain or shine and a light breakfast will be served for all volunteers. This is a great time to show your HMP pride, meet with neighbors and help beautify the neighborhood in the process. Meet at 32nd and Washington Boulevard at 8:30 pm to receive tree planting instruction and a demonstration. Don’t forget to wear comfortable shoes and clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty. Shovels and gloves will be provided. Trees will be planted directly in homeowner’s yards, and homeowners must be home during the planting.
