2018 is fully behind us now, and your new 2019 board is eager to start planning. But before I leave 2018 completely in the rearview, I want to thank a few people who’ve contributed greatly to Historic Meridian Park. Kristen Smith, Jen Rozelle, and Erica Stout have served our neighborhood on the board for over 4 years. They have been as valuable in their counsel as they have in their service. Please do me a favor and go out of your way to thank them for their service to Historic Meridian Park the next time you see them.

Looking forward to the coming year, the Historic Meridian Park Neighborhood Association Board of Directors will work dutifully to make our neighborhood more safe and connected. Here are a few Board priorities and the part you can play:

Comprehensive Communication
It’s important that all neighbors feel connected to what is happening in the neighborhood. And we realize that not everyone is a prolific Facebook user or email checker. So we will continue working to reach neighbors by delivering fliers door-to-door, email, Facebook, public signage, and in the Urban Times. We’re also considering assembling a neighborhood directory. And we’ll continue seeking new ways to reach neighbors. But, there is no substitution for face-to-face communication. So if you know about an upcoming neighborhood event or news, talk to your neighbors about it.

Crime Watch
The board will be spearheading an effort to establish a formal Crime Watch in connection with IMPD. This program requires 50% participation per block, so it’s critical that we get your help in making our neighborhood safer. Stay tuned for details.

Connect
We have a full slate of popular upcoming social events like the Spring Porch Crawl, Cajun Brunch, and a Spring Alley Clean Up. These events are always great fun. But, what you might not know is that these events are also designed to give you an opportunity to share ideas with board members. We use these interactions to inform upcoming agendas. So don’t be shy!

I assure you, this year’s board will give their all to the neighborhood, and that impact will be multiplied with your help.

Let’s have a great year together.

Your friend and neighbor,
Ryan Noel
