Fall Alley Clean-Up

In spite of it being one of the coldest and rainiest days of the year, eight brave neighbors bundled up and hit the alleys. Because of these brave souls, HMP’s fall alley cleanup was a success. Thank you to Health and Hospital, Keep Indianapolis Beautiful, and the Department of Public Works for their continued support in keeping Historic Meridian Park beautiful.

Fall Festival

While Saturday was one of the coldest and rainiest days of the year, Sunday proved to be a perfect day for the Annual Fall Festival. The rain cleared, the clouds moved out, and the weather couldn’t have been more beautiful.

The Annual Fall Festival is always a favorite. Competitors dust off their best chili and/or cornbread recipes and battle it out for the coveted Golden Ladle and Golden Fork. A panel of judges conducted blind taste tests and ranked their favorites chili and cornbread recipes.

While choosing a winner amongst all the tasty recipes always proves difficult, this year’s winner of the Golden Fork for delicious cornbread was Gretchen Turner, second place went to Brett Edstene and 3rd place was a tie between Millie Valentine and Ed Quarles. The Golden Ladle for tastiest chili goes to Jean Richcreek, second place went to Sara Richcreek, and third place to Bryan Docktor.

The 2019 esteemed panel of judges included:

  • Joe Stibolt, Dynamic Therapy and Massage
  • Jeffrey Burgin, Mayor’s Neighborhood Advocate
  • Natalie James, MFCDC
  • Brent Mather, R&B Architects, The Glossbrenner Mansion
  • The Irwins, new neighbors

The special day would not have been complete without the artistic talents of Jeanne Rieger who entertained children with face painting.
